The Display menu contains all of the user interface settings
for Maya 5. To turn the grid on or off in all viewports choose Display _ Grid.
If you require to alter your grid options go to Display _ Grid _ . You can set
the distance end to end and width of the grid as well as the number of
subdivision lines.
The Display _ Heads Up Display options allow you to illustrate
object and scene information in your viewports.
I for all time work with Poly Count, Camera Names, and View
Axis checked, and will turn other options on as wanted. But those three let me
know if a nature fits within the polygon limits and whether or not it is
oriented properly.
Hide is very significant. You can hide chosen objects or all
objects of a detailed type. Hidden objects will not render. Hiding objects can create
your scenes much easier to work with. Once you are ready for the last render,
use the Show commands to create any hidden objects visible.
